Within a 15-20 minute drive through rolling hills are the market towns of Infiesto, Colunga and Villaviciosa. All 3 are interesting towns in their own right and all have numerous independent shops selling a diverse range of goods and services. There are also many bars, restaurants and siderias where you can sample the local cuisine. The beaches of Espasa and La Griega are a 20 minute drive away, in a northerly direction. The famous canoeing town of Arriondas is 25 minutes away, in a south-easterly direction.
The wider area of Asturias is a natural paradise of unspoilt countryside, dramatic coastline, stunning mountain ranges, picturesque rivers, and diverse wildlife. The people are hard working and friendly, with many sustaining a living from the land. The area is famed for its food and drink, with many Asturian dishes, local cheeses, and sidra to be found in every bar and restaurant in the area.
